Twitter owner Elon Musk has some free advice for former President Donald Trump’s fledgling “Truth Social” app – quipping Wednesday that rival social media service should consider a name change.
Musk weighed in on the Trump-backed app’s brand just two days after he reached an agreement with Twitter’s board to buy the company for $44 billion.
“Truth Social (terrible name) exists because Twitter censored free speech,” Musk tweeted. “Should be called Trumpet instead!”

Is there trouble ahead for the Snake President?
Mr. Trump’s company, Trump Media & Technology Group, created social-media network Truth Social to challenge the dominance of platforms such as Twitter and Meta Platforms Inc.’s Facebook. Both companies suspended Mr. Trump from their platforms in the wake of the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
The moves restricted Mr. Trump’s ability to communicate with supporters, effectively wiping out a direct line to his 35 million Facebook followers and 88 million Twitter followers. The bans have since become a rallying call among the former president’s supporters.
DWAC, a special-purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, said in October that it was merging with Mr. Trump’s company. SPACs, also called blank-check companies, raise money and trade on a stock exchange while seeking to merge with a private company to take it public.
Two months later, DWAC disclosed in a regulatory filing that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission was investigating the deal. DWAC said the SEC was seeking information about its investors, trading policies and communications between the SPAC and Mr. Trump’s company.
We wonder what they are investigating and whether any investigations will be done of the Musk funding sources? Still working on finding out more about where $44B came from with Musk and company.
