President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France will end its presence in Niger following a coup that removed the democratically elected president.
Mr Macron also said on Sunday that France will pull its ambassador out of the country.
France has maintained some 1,500 troops in Niger since the July coup, and had refused an order by the new junta for its ambassador to leave, saying that France didn’t recognise the coup leaders as legitimate.
Niger’s junta said that Mr Macron’s announcement signals a “new step towards the sovereignty” of the country.
“Imperialist and neo-colonialist forces are no longer welcome on our national territory. The new era of cooperation, based on mutual respect and sovereignty is already underway,” it said in a statement.
Tensions had risen in recent weeks between France and Niger, a former French colony, with Mr Macron saying that French diplomats were surviving on military rations as they holed up in the embassy.
Mr Macron’s announcement came after the coup leaders issued a statement earlier on Sunday that they were closing Niger’s airspace to French planes, commercial and military, so that the new leadership could “retake total control of its skies and its territory.″

Brady Africk, an analyst at the American Enterprise Institute, posted on X (formerly Twitter) satellite images of the aftermath of the strike of smoke rising from the building. He noted how videos showed French- and British-supplied Storm Shadow and SCALP cruise missiles operated by Ukraine hitting the site.

It gets worse. The other day in Russian controlled territories, the German Nazis are back in Russia and the last time they were there about 25 million Russian died. That is not something the Russians have forgotten for forgiven. The Germans were the ones operating the Leopard tanks, not the Ukrainian rag tag army of did not want to volunteer army but were picked up from the street army recruits.

LUGANSK (Sputnik) - A Russian reconnaissance team has destroyed a German-supplied Leopard tank of the Ukrainian military with a crew comprised of Bunderswehr soldiers in the Zaporozhye direction, the team lead with the moniker Legend told Sputnik on Saturday.
"When we curbed another offensive and ATGM-ed [destroyed with an anti-tank guided missile] the Leopard, we moved out to the burned vahicle hoping to seize the 'tongue.' Then we saw that the crew's driver-mechanic was severely injured and the others were dead. Once he awoke, the mechanic started yelling 'nicht schießen' ["do not shoot" in German]," the head of the reconnaissance team said.
Another historic Embassy scene for the ages to remembered for many years to come. The Americans were also ousted out of their Embassy in Tehran and never forget that humiliation. When things such as these in Niger happen at an Embassy that is a thing to make a note of because it is the end of one Empire and the rise of another.
The humiliating surrender by French without even a proper War means and says a lot. France cannot fight in Africa, but they can fight the Russians? Answer, that is highly unlikely because the average French has no interest in the NeoZioCon controlled politics of Ukraine or Russia. The French are not interested in fighting and the colonies are not in full revolt. Macron made a strategic retreat. You retreat when you think you are losing, not winning.
Niger will be marked as the turning point, just as when the French so many decades ago also lost in Algiers. That French victory eventually led to their bloody defeat. But they remained in the rest of Africa until now in 2023. Now their position in the rest of Africa is very much weakened and threatened. The famous classic Battle of Algiers, perhaps of the best films ever on the subject matter.
If you still have not figured it out yet, WW3 is in progress and it started last year. There are many Battles, but only one War. Many more Battles to come as this thing will grind on for years to come and will change locations from one location to another, if people have not clued into to that either.
